Spotify hasn't been shy with new features recently, having introduced an in-app messenger allowing users to share music without leaving the platform, and (most importantly) being able to purchase Skiddle tickets on the app. Now, the newest feature from the streaming giants is here in the form of Lossless Listening, allowing Premium subscribers to enjoy tunes with the highest quality music audio possible.

Described by Spotify as one of the most requested features, Lossless allows users to stream tracks in up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC, unlocking greater detail in every song you can find within the app’s extensive library.

VP of markets & subscriptions Gustav Gyllenhammar said, “The wait is finally over; we’re so excited lossless sound is rolling out to Premium subscribers. We’ve taken time to build this feature in a way that prioritizes quality, ease of use, and clarity at every step, so you always know what’s happening under the hood. With Lossless, our premium users will now have an even better listening experience.”

Premium subscribers will be notified when Lossless becomes available on their device, and the feature has to be enabled in-app. Happy listening!
