Single Review: Doves - Snowden

With its epic guitar sounds and windswept synth choruses, 'Snowden' literally sounds like it was written atop its namesake.

Taken from their third album 'Some Cities', which charted at number 1, 'Snowden' is a song worthy of Coldplay at their finest. The single differs from the album cut, as it's been remixed by Rich Costey (whose previous work includes Secret Machines and The Mars Volta).

The Manchester band has made a song that's cinematic in atmosphere, beautifully reflective vocally and most importantly reiterates their worth in today's current music scene. Doves had an uphill struggle in following up the critically acclaimed 'The Last Broadcast'; the astounding effort that is 'Snowden' would certainly indicate that they have well and truly managed the climb.
