Renaissance 20th Anniversary @ St Georges Hall, Liverpool

IT has played host to royalty, concert pianists, world class dancers and even the odd Beatle or two, now one of Liverpools architectural gems is to hold part of the 20 year celebrations for one of the worlds most iconic music labels Renaissance.

A pioneering music brand which helped launch the careers of many a world class DJ, Renaissance kicked off its 20 year celebrations in Birmingham and Leeds with Sasha at the helm.

Now, thanks to the work of Liverpool promoters, Freeze, the next instalment of the celebration will be held in St Georges Hall in September.

Taking place on Saturday 15th September, the event, which is being endorsed by Funktion 1, will see the Grade I listed building reverberate to the sounds of some of Renaissances biggest names Hernan Cattaneo, Henry Saiz, Danny Howells and Jemmy, plus a very special guest DJ still to be announced.

One of the figureheads of the modern Renaissance sound, Argentinean DJ Hernan Cattaneo headlines the event alongside tech-house legend, Danny Howells. The September gig marks a return to Liverpool for Cattaneo and Howells, who both delivered awe-inspiring sets at Freezes last event in Liverpool Cathedral last year.

Of course, Howells and Cattaneo arent the only DJs who will be on the decks in the latest Liverpool landmark to get the Freeze treatment.

Rising star on the melodic house and techno scene, Henry Saiz will also be making a return to Liverpool. Henrys Balance 19 Compilation saw him pick up the Best Compilation accolade at the prestigious Spanish DJ Mag awards in 2011. The Madrid-born DJ also scooped awards for Best Label for his Natura Sonoris Imprint and Best Live Act.

To add an eclectic edge to proceedings, Ghosting Season an exciting new band signed to Sashas label, Last Night on Earth will perform live at this eagerly-anticipated event. Hailed by Mixmag as: Ones to watch in 2012, the Mancunian band have been rapidly building a name for themselves since releasing their debut album The Very Last Of The Saints in May 2011.

Completing the colossal line-up is home-grown star Jemmy, whose EP Quarry Bank Rainbow will be released on the Renaissance label this summer.

One of the worlds finest neo-classical buildings, St Georges Hall was originally built as a venue for music festivals in the 1850s. A majestic setting for Renaissances 20 year celebrations, the hall, which Charles Dickens is said to have dubbed: The most perfect hall in the world, is part of Liverpools World Heritage site.

Being held in a venue as grand and jaw-droppingly beautiful as St Georges Hall, the September 15 event is sure to go down in Liverpool clubbing history as a night of monumental proportions.

This is the first event that Freeze have put on in the city following their hugely successful night in Liverpool Cathedral in April 2011. Over a year since it happened, Freezes cathedral event is still the stuff of clubbing legend and the upcoming Renaissance night is sure to be another night to go down in clubbing history.

Following the St Georges Hall event, an exclusive after-party is being held in a secret venue, for which just 500 tickets are available. Continuing Freezes emotional commitment to Breast Cancer awareness, a percentage of all ticket sales will be donated to the cause.
