A progressive house & trance music event celebrates its first birthday this week with their biggest event to date and it's free!

Over the last 12 months Ashley Bonsall has been running progressive house & trance events in Preston. The 'Progmatic' events are aimed at lovers of electronic dance music and the good news is that the birthday event is free - you'll just need to get down there early to ensure you get in.

It was Ashley's love of dance music that got him started organising the events in the Preston area. Ashley said: "The events have gone from strength to strength and it's been somewhat of a public service to the likeminded, hedonistic electronic underground scene in the north of England.

"We've got a great line-up planned for the first birthday celebration, including our headliners, Progressive Trance duo Tucandeo who are flying in from Belfast. Tucandeo's sound is dark, moody and melodic. It oozes that idyllic, elusive sound that is perfect for proper underground parties."

"I started in Preston when my friend was running an event at Glovers upstairs and asked if I wanted to do a little night in the downstairs room. I decided to go all out and develop a brand and ethos that is Progmatic as it is today. I hold a residency for a Manchester based Trance night called re:format. The Manchester underground music scene is very vibrant at the minute so I guess I aimed to bring a bit of that back to Preston as there isn't many Trance or progressive oriented events in the city at the moment. It seemed the right place to do something, that's why I jumped at the chance to put on the event.

He went on to say "It's grown strongly since the first event and has a loyal following. It's gained mutual respect across the board from promoters, DJ's and professionals within the scene. I've gone on to host parties in Preston, Leeds, Ibiza and have upcoming events in Blackpool and Scotland with the brand too. I live in Accrington near Blackburn and have done all my life. I have been clubbing in Preston for years (especially at venues such as 53 Degrees for nights like Goodgreef) so I appreciate that there is a demand for underground events in the city"

Ashley will be playing a B2B (Back2Back) set with 'Rong' resident Pete Bromage. Between them the lads have clocked up gigs all over the UK and Ibiza. Other DJ's on the line up include Godskitchen's Sam Mitcham, Ben Aldred & Danny Stubbs and Phil Metcalfe & Jordan Snape (residents).

The event takes place at The Cellar, Glovers Bar between 10pm and 4am on Friday 7th February.
