The crew reigns supreme in hip-hop. Even solo stars have a clique of sorts that they veer in-between, many in plenty more, and as a consequence the concept of the supergroup really comes into it’s own within the genre. No truer is this the case than with Slaughterhouse.
Assembled by Eminem for his Shady records imprint, Slaughterhouse is a four way dream team of emcees, headed up by Eminem’s long-time sparring partner from Detroit Royce da 5”9. Joining him is the man behind ‘Pump it Up, Joe Budden, Puerto Rican rapper Joel Ortiz and West Coast veteran Crooked I, who between the four of them have been signed at various stages to record labels as legendary as Death Row, Aftermath, Def Jam, Koch and Game Recordings.
The crew’s self-titled debut album appeared in 2009 to rapturous reviews, and their follow up effort ‘Welcome to our House’ has also been reviewed favourably. The record features the production of super producer Just Blaze and will form the central tenet of this live show in the Ritz. Check out their track ‘My Life’ below.
