Ola! Another two weeks have passed since I touched down on this glorious island, and I can't believe how quickly it goes. Well, they do say time flies when you're having fun, and I am definitely having a lot of fun! I've finally managed to drag my mind away from holiday mode however, and while there's still plenty of partying to be done I've come to appreciate the chilling times as well. Cala Gracia beach is probably my favourite spot, where just the other day we witnessed a wedding – very heart-warming I must say.
After missing the DC10 opening, I got myself down to Circoloco as quickly as I could. It was great to be back in the hedonistic hotspot after popping my DC10 cherry last year while I was out on holiday. The atmosphere in there is top – everybody goes mad for it, all of the DJs and clubbers. Clive Henry was brilliant as usual and Dan Ghencia dropped what has become my tune of the season so far, “Close To The Edge” by Ghenacia and Shonky.
Unfortunately I missed the Amnesia opening, where I heard that Tanzmann and Squillace blew the roof off with their back to back set. I plan to make up for it by going to Cocoon tomorrow for Richie Hawtin and Loco Dice so look out for the review for that (sure to be a spectacular night). I did however make it to the We Love opening at Space, which was brilliant. The Innervisions showcase was the best, while Carl Craig performed as his alias '69' which was good but pretty heavy! A couple of days later a Space wristbander came up to us on the beach and offered us all free entry for Joris Voorn's Womb night back at Space, so we popped in to see Edu Imbernon and a casual b2b set from Voorn and Nic Fanciulli (oh how I love Ibiza!).
Over the last couple of weeks I've seen Giles Smith alongside James Priestly and also Pearson Sound at Channel Zoo, which is quickly becoming one of my favourite regular nights – cheap to get there, free to get in with the workers season pass and one or two big and different names each week.
I feel I should warn you about the prostitutes out here... They don't half harass you! So far I've had to save a couple of people from the pesky thieves – their trick is to wrap a little bracelet round your hand and once it's on they'll take you for all the cash you have. I don't think they like me because I intervene and try save the poor souls they are grabbing – they dish out abuse a lot, apparently I'm a 'bastard'. Stick and stones though eh.
Over the next few weeks I'll be beginning a mini Ibiza round up for the Skiddle podcast, interviewing some big names which should be interesting and generally continuing to balance partying my head off with a good dose of chilling. I'm off to Amnesia for Cocoon, Sankeys for the next instalment of London's Mulletover, probably back to DC10 for Circoloco and hopefully Ovum at Space for Josh Wink's annual bash. Keep up to date with all the shenanigans via the Ibiza section on Skiddle.com and you'll hear from me again in a few weeks time. Until then, adiós!
