Mindfest - Charity Festival for Mind

4 months ago, a team of volunteers thought they'd run a little band night to support Mind.

Little did they know what it would become...

Probably the first step in our project's transformation was landing a venue like Proud Camden. They were so keen, helpful and responsive when we contacted them, we had to check it out. And sure enough, its a venue you won't forget it. Gallery, cabaret, three bars, a brand new sound-system, stable booths, a heated terrace - it's got the lot! When you find yourself putting on a night at such a prestigious, interesting venue, a little band night just won't do.

So we started planning for something a bit more. Maybe some fun games and DJs in the stables? There are TV screens everywhere - why don't we put together funky animations with facts about mental health? Maybe some acts in the terrace? Hell, if its developing into a mini-festival, lets put on something other than music - some comedy maybe? Our imagination was the limit!

With so much cool stuff happening, it would be a real shame to clear everyone out at 10pm for Magic Thursdays. So why not link up? It was a long shot, but I fired Wicked Student Nights an email, and in an instant they were on board! Everyone wants to help charity, and our events linked up would be so much greater than the two on their own. So the party's not going to end, we're taking the festival all the way through to 2:30am.

It's been a hell of a lot of work, with many late nights managing plans, acts and promoting. One of our team designed some incredible flyers, at the same time as moving house! Despite the graft, we know it's going to be worth it. So be sure to come along for an unforgettable night!
