The new hi-fi bar will be a temporary fixture, opening this month until July 2027

Long-running listening bar Spiritland will be opening a brand-new venue inside the Barbican in London later this month. Set to open its doors on Tuesday 20th October, the 100-capacity space will host a six-day-a-week programme celebrating music in all its forms.
Located on Level 2 of the Barbican, hosting listening sessions, supper clubs, talks and album playbacks, this will be a temporary fixture, closing in July 2027 in celebration of its 10th anniversary. With the bar fitted with a custom Living Voice soundsystem and two R252 loudspeakers, as well as additional rare equipment selected to maximise audio quality, it will be an aid for artists and record collectors to lead sessions spanning jazz, soul, contemporary classical, ambient and electronic music.

With daily album playbacks at 5 pm, an album will be selected to be played in full, while some weeks will be dedicated to a specific artist; food and drink will also come courtesy of Lardo, Smoking Goat, Milroys and St. John, with menus drawing on European and Japanese influences.
Spiritland At The Barbican will carry on enforcing the London location's cultural programming, coinciding with the arts centre’s offerings with a spread of music- and food-focused events.
"Bringing Spiritland to the Barbican Centre is a dream," said Spiritland co-founder Sophie Uddin. "Its unique mix of adventurous programming across all artforms, the audience, the Lakeside room, and of course the building itself are all unbeatable. I’ve been coming to the Barbican for many years and I'm thrilled about this partnership. We can’t wait to join the Barbican’s cultural world.”
