Happy Yorkshire day everyone. And to celebrate the biggest country in the country revelling in its own day we’ve got some exciting news about the region’s biggest city, with Leeds getting ready to take Control.

Control will be, in the words of the promotional blurb, “the biggest purpose built, multi-million pound music and dance venue in the North of England”, and analysing the stats it’s a claim that looks loaded with truth. The venue will boast two rooms, across 25000 square ft and a capacity of just over 3000. Booze fans will be happy – there’s seven separate bars and a 24 hour venue licence, and for the audio-visual aficionados out there high definition LED video walls fitted throughout as well are augmented by Funktion One sound.

There’s plenty more sci-f touches as well, with “nine sensory depriving tunnels, high performance podiums, private bookable Geopods™, main stage viewing SkyBooths and an outdoor heated spectrum terrace”. Or in layman’s terms, it’s going to look and sound like the dog’s danglies. Anyone who has spent time in space age clubs like Tokyo’s Womb, Berlin’s Weekend or London’s Fabric will know what to expect.

All this would be redundant if they didn’t have the talent to back it up, but as you’d expect from the some of the greatest minds behind one of the UK’s most vibrant clubbing cultures, the booking policy will be as high end as the tech spec. There’s the promise of international starlets playing long and extended sets, which is enough to get us frothing with excitement. As soon as we know more, we'll be the first to let you know.
