Kid Creole and The Coconuts are a band formed out of popular latin disco group Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band. Headed by Kid Creole himself, the New Yorker's troupe come to play at Stage in Basingstoke on Friday 22nd July

Real name August Darnell, Creole became a member of the Savannah Band in the seventies before taking on his Kid Creole guise while working at Ze Records. While part of the legendary Savannah Band, he had a hand in golden hits such as 'Cherzez La Femme/Se Si Bon'.

It wasn't until the early eighties and a third album that Kid Creole and The Coconuts toured the UK where they broke big. Becoming a vibrant and exciting live act while channeling a unique blend of R&B, latin and disco, Kid Creole and The Coconuts found their chart standing in popular hit 'Annie I'm Not Your Daddy' (listen above).

Ever since, the Kid Creole character has been embraced by popular culture with appearances in theatre, TV and music. Now accelerating a stunning career, Creole and the band bring their revered live show and feel good music and performance to the fore once again.
