Broadcaster, DJ, record producer and journalist John Peel is BBC Radio 1's longest serving DJ and considered by many to be one of the most important men in music.
He was one of the first DJs on British radio to play psych and prog rock, he played African music on mainstream radio before it was trendy and also played a part in introducing reggae and kraut rock to a mass audience. Without John we might never have heard of great bands like The Fall, Pink Floyd, Roxy Music and PJ Harvey.
Keeping It Peel Manchester is a night of music and bands that featured on and or are inspired by the radio shows of legendary broadcaster and DJ John Peel.
