Rapper and beatsmith Jonwayne is heading to the UK in April for a clutch of shows highlighting his unique take on hip hop. Part of the vaunted vanguard of producers on the LA beat scene alongside the likes of Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer, Nosaj Thing, Kutmah and Daedelus, he came to prominence off the strength of celebrated party the Low End Theory.

Although his leftfield productions were what first caused the spotlight to be shed upon him, blending abstract electronics with a stuttering sample aesthetic, his record deal to the legendary Stones Throw (check our recent piece on them here) was on account of his mic talk, label boss Peanut Butter Wolf signing up for an album deal as a rapper - his debut release Rap Album Number One (stream above on Spotify) was released on the imprint last year

It featured the single 'The Come Up', the video of which (below) spotlights the unique visual appeal of the emcee who couldn't be any further from the steretopypical rapper both in sound, appearance but certainly not skills.

He'll play three dates in the North of England in April which you can secure tickets for via Skiddle. they are as follows:

Leeds (with Kutmah) @ Beat Bar, Saturday 26th April

Liverpool @ The Shipping Forecast, Tuesday 29th April

Manchester (with Metrodome & Sparkz) @ Soup Kitchen, Wednesday 30th April.
