Superstar Dj Tiesto returns to London's Victoria Park on July 30th, to headline a very special event for over 25,000 clubbers. We caught up with him to chat about death rumours, touring, and being Tiesto.

You've recently joined the likes of  Natalie Portman, Bobby Brown and George Clooney by being subject to your very own death rumour. Do you feel now like your A-list status is sealed?

I knew I'd get there eventually! I guess it’s an honour ?

Presumably you're happy to be alive... and you're returning to Victoria Park later this month. It's a huge gig - what are you most looking forward to about it?

Last year was unreal, with 25,000 people having an amazing time. I could really feel it from the stage, so I am looking forward to experiencing that again.

Your recent 'Kaleidoscope' tour alone took in over 40 countries - you must have played at some stunning venues. Are there any that stick in the mind the most?

The Australian tour was amazing.  Playing in Brisbane during a warm steamy Summer rain shower was intense.

You spend a lot of time on tour. But where is 'home'?

Whatever hotel I am staying in.

How do you keep yourself occupied on long flights?

I catch up on my emails, listen to music and sleep when necessary!

I heard 'Tiesto' is a twist on your childhood nickname. Can you explain its meaning?

Tiësto is a nickname I was given when I was younger and has just stuck with me ever since. It’s a twist on my real name Tijs.

You're one of the world's biggest names in dance music  - do you ever take inspiration from younger, newer artists?

I take inspiration from many areas including hearing new music from young artists. I have just launched Musical Freedom, my new record label, in order to release new music from artists including Dada Life, and Henrik B and Christian Alvestam.

What's the best thing about being Tiesto?

Doing what I love and seeing how much joy it brings people.

And the worst?

I feel very lucky to be able produce music and perform to so many people. I would never complain about it.

Tell us a secret about yourself.

Do you follow me on Twitter?  I have no secrets!

You've got a few 'firsts' under your belt... the first DJ to perform at an Olympic opening ceremony, the first to perform at Victoria Park... what 'first' would you love to create next?

I never set out to be the first to do any of these things. Let’s just say I always want to create an experience that is unique and people will never forget.  From the production to the music that I play, pushing the boundaries is something that I always strive to do. If that leads me to be the first to do something in the future than that is great too!
