There's no avoiding Ibiza's essential status in the raving community. Nowhere in the world is as perfectly primed for unbridled hedonism as the White Isle, making it a pivotal destination for clubbers desperate to witness their favourite DJs and artists in the most idyllic of environments.

With so much to see and do though, a first time visit can be simply baffling, which is why we've run a series of Insider Guides to give you a head start on your Ibiza visit, and who better to give us the inside track on the island than someone who is at the helm of one of the islands longest standing and most respected clubnights?

Nick Ferguson, one of the people involved with 'Best Nightclub of the last 25 years' (Mixmag) has been at the helm of Thursday nights at Amnesia for over eight years now.

We grab five minutes with Cream Ibiza's (check out Pete Tong and Sasha's Essential back to back from the clubnight below) main man to glean some of his in depth understanding of Ibiza, and let us in on his passion for the Ibiza experience.

Where do you live on the island and why do you live there?

Calo Des Moro area of San Antonio. It is right on the sunset strip, close to the nicer beach and very quick route out of San Antonio, whilst being just 5 minutes from the west end and main promenade. It is ideal for many reasons!

What makes Ibiza so special?

It is completely unique; nowhere in the world does a beautiful island of such small size have an incredible array of nightclubs, bars, restaurants, beaches, culture and activities, as well as perfect weather. It is a true paradise, offering mass entertainment!

Where’s your favourite places to eat?

Sa Cappella, Sunset Ashram and Tiburon (Formentera)!

And the best places to go out?

Amnesia and Space are the best clubs for me, too many good bars to mention...some really cool gems you need to find on your own!

Where is the best place to watch the sun set and rise on the island?

Best sunset is from a boat by Es Vedra and sunrise is from Salinas!

For someone about to come to Ibiza for the first time, what are the three things they must do before there time is out?

Hire a car and drive through the north of the island to become a hippy for the night at Beniras, visit our beautiful sister island, Formentera and have a 24 hour session, club and bar hopping all around the best hotspots!

What’s the island's greatest hidden secret?

I’m not telling you, it’s a secret :-p

And finally, what one bit of advice would you give someone hitting Ibiza for the first time?

Eat well, drink water, sleep when you can, respect other people and the island but have the time of your life in one of the most incredible places on Earth.

Cream hosts Thursday nights at Amnesia, and celebrates its 20th anniversary on the white isle this year. Cream closes out the season on Thursday 25th September. For info and tickets head here.
