Manchester's Halloween in the City to return with free family fun and more

If you've witnessed some of Manchester's beloved buildings being covered by some spooky inflatables, you might be familiar with Halloween in the City: a free spooktacular across the city. This year will be a special edition as it marks Halloween in the City's 10th anniversary.

With a busy programme on the cards, including family fun, fancy dress, street performers, live DJs, a brand-new birthday bake-off and a spectacular roaming procession, this year is going to be an unmissable non-stop weekend. 

Created by artists Filthy Luker and Pedro Estrellas and brought to life by Designs in Air, the monsters decorating Manchester city have been an integral part of Manchester’s Halloween celebrations for a decade, and this year, they’ll again be taking over some of Manchester’s most iconic buildings and landmarks. Including Exchange Square, Manchester Arndale, Selfridges Exchange Square, Corn Exchange Manchester, Printworks, and so many more.

All from Saturday 24th to Saturday 31st October, you can catch the giant inflatable creatures. 

On the same weekend (24th - 25th October), the Halloween in the City Weekender will have two sessions take place at 10 am – 6 pm on Saturday and 10 am – 5 pm on Sunday, which will feature Swizzels’ Spooky Sweet Stop located on New Cathedral Street. Where families can pick up a special Halloween party bag with Swizzels sweets inside. As well as The Monster Bake-Off, where spooky judge Paul Horror-wood entertains a 'bake-off' with a difference

And of course it wouldn't be Halloween in the City without The Monsters Party Procession, which will again be stomping through Market Street and Manchester Arndale, featuring dancing monster puppets, towering stilt walkers and a six-piece brass band. 

Families will also be able to catch a live storytelling performance of The Monster Library: The Legend of the MCR Monsters by Z-Arts. Where the origins of Manchester’s legendary creatures will be revealed. To find out more information on Halloween in the city, click here.
