Terrible news to wake up to for dance music fans, as reports of gunfire being unleashed during the closing party of the BPM Festival on Sunday 15th January have been coming in. The details are sketchy at present but the death toll is estimated at between 5 and 12, a fate nobody should have to deal with on a night out.

It occurred at the Blue Parrot venue, with Glaswegian DJ Jackmaster one of several people who tweeted about the horrible turn of events. All reports thus far are citing that police are investigating coordinated cartel activity, with drugs touted as one of the causes of the shooting, and that security attempted to protect club goers.

One of the attendees Angel, an Elrow promoter, said to Dazed Mexico: “We were at Elrow, in the back of the club. We heard what appeared to be gunshots but a worker told us to calm down, it was just fireworks. People (sic) started getting up and again the shots started. My friends saw the shooter running across the back of the club shooting into it through a metal rail. One of my friends saw a person shot and bleeding.”
