GlobalGathering is the undisputed king of dance festivals. No other event has managed to attract such record-breaking numbers and sell out each of the past four years. In 2005, Global Gathering is determined to up the ante and earn its place in the dance music history books: for the first time ever the festival will take place over a whole weekend and offer fully equipped camping areas absolutely FREE for weekend ticket holders. It's a sure-fire recipe for the weekend of the year: two days of musical pleasure, euphoria and sheer, unadulterated fun.

The line-up should be accompanied by health warnings. One look could send your blood pressure soaring to danger levels The Friday night session features a combination of dance deities and legendary live bands including:

• Underworld - the bouncy band who took the underground, overground
• Happy Mondays - Manchester's Shaun & Bez headline the Get Loaded Arena
• Kosheen - who's dark breaks and heavy basslines tear up audiences
• Mylo - The Scottish legend who's smashing dance floors across the world

Other headline DJs for the Friday night session include Paul Oakenfold, Deep Dish, Sasha, Roger Sanchez, Layo and Bushwacka, The Scratch Perverts and Notting Hill's purveyor of Good Times, Norman Jay. In total Global Gathering will feature no less than sixteen music arenas over the two days that will cover the complete spectrum of dance, hip hop, drum & bass and breaks.

Radio 1 have chosen to exclusively support Global Gathering over all other UK dance music festivals this year with a mammoth eleven hours of coverage. The Essential Selection with Pete Tong will be broadcast live on the Friday evening, for historically the first ever time from a festival. Speaking on Radio 1's involvement Pete said: "I'm privileged to be opening the event live on-air with my special guests 2manyDjs. As a two day weekender this year,

Global Gathering is going to be better than ever and I can't wait to rock the crowds from the mighty Radio 1 stage at the famous Global Gathering beach." Radio 1 will also play a huge role on the Saturday with Judge Jules and Fergie both broadcasting their shows live not to mention a specially extended Essential Mix.

The Saturday goes on to feature an astounding array of dance royalty including the world's most popular DJ, Tiesto as a UK Festival Exclusive and luminaries such as Carl Cox and John Digweed who each host their own arenas. They will be joined on other stages by; Paul Van Dyk, Judge Jules, Fergie, Erick Morillo, Armin Van Buuren, Steve Lawler, Plump DJs, Fabio and Grooverider plus many more.

Last year, more than 40,000 people congregated in the beautiful green fields of Warwickshire. With this year's event moving to a weekender, that figure could swell even further. What better way to enjoy the event than to pitch up a tent and stay for a couple of days to enjoy the complete festival experience?

It's not just the gob-smacking line ups that make Global Gathering a record breaker: it's their desire to blow away all expectations and lay on a dazzling event that's loaded with extracurricular activities including:

  • The Urban Village hosted by Birmingham based club night Afrodizzyscratch who bring Hip-Hop DJs, Skate Ramps, BMX Riders, Break Dancers, and Graffiti Artists.
  • The Chill Out Village with tepees, bean bags, coffee shops, massage stands and not forgetting the English Village Fair.
  • The Adrenalin Village with bungee jumps, reverse bungee jumps, free fall simulators and various other extreme rides.
  • An entire fairground with water rides and roller coasters
  • Comedy tent hosted by Jongleurs.
  • 1000 ton sandy beach, deckchairs, palm trees and sandcastles this year home to Radio 1.
  • Camp sites offering additional activities including shops, cinema and 5 - a side football pitches.

One of the ultimate signs of festival success is the endorsement from the performers. DJs trip over themselves to pour plaudits on last year's Global Gathering event:

Erick Morillo one of the US finest house DJ's says:

'It was the best festival set I've ever played. The crowd was amazing -- they were literally hanging from the scaffolding!!!'

Radio 1's Judge Jules says:

'Without question Global Gathering has been the biggest festival success story of the past five years'

Carl Cox the world's premier techno DJ say:

'40 thousand people turned out for this event and got to listen and dance the night away to all types of music. This is the best dance event in the UK this year in our life right now. I can't wait to play again next year.'

Global Gathering not only has the support from the UK's club and music community but has a vast international following as well with no less than 1000 people flying in especially for the event. And its not just music fans, the local authorities are fully behind the event and the council and police have already granted the license in an almost unprecedented up front move. With the green light from the powers that be, Global Gathering is ready to motor on, full steam ahead to the biggest dance music weekend of the year.
