Free whisky tasting party this Sunday with Optimo, Luke Unabomber and more!

Free Whisky and awesome DJs. What more could you want from a Sunday evening? 

That's exactly what you'll get on Sunday October 9th, when Auchentoshan takes the final leg of its ‘Auchentoshan Presents’ tour to Manchester’s favourite intimate drinking hole, Common, for a proper Sunday shindig and wrap up party with local prmoters TRAMP!.

Having started life at North London institution The Lock Tavern last year, the series has since visited Glasgow, Bristol, Leeds and now finally Manchester. The party this Sunday will combine a whisky tasting event with a fantastic line-up of DJs including Optimo's JD Twitch, Luke Unabomber of legendary Manchester duo The Unabombers, and Warehouse Project resident Will TRAMP!.

The day begins at 4pm with an Auchentoshan whisky tasting; consumers will taste three key expressions of Auchentoshan, trying it with chocolate and also mixed as a long drink with fiery ginger ale and a wedge of orange.

As the whisky tasting ends, the music takes over with a fantastic line-up to take partygoers through the night.

JD Twitch's diverse discography of remixes and eclectic taste will no doubt make for a weird and wonderful Sunday evening set. JD Twitch is without a doubt one of the most influential DJs of the past decade. Alongside Jonnie Wilkes, he founded Optimo Espacio in 1997 at Sub Club, Glasgow and has since hosted some of the biggest names, from bands like The Rapture to DJs such as Richie Hawtin. 

2011’s final ‘Auchentoshan Presents’ party will also feature Luke Unabomber, one half of the Unabombers and creators of Manchester’s legendary Electric Chair club night. A few years ago they started up a small festival in Croatia called Electric Elephant and have since spread their vibe across the globe, including residencies in Barcelona and Paris. Luke will be dropping in to show us why he is held in such high regard amongst the UK dance music community. Expect balearic oddities, rare disco and outsider pop.

Joining the line-up are Stop Making Sense DJs, the cool and awesome collection of young chaps who play a weekly soiree at Common. Will TRAMP!, resident for the Warehouse Project, Freitags and oddball basement rave HomoElectric, will also be digging deep into his bag of electrifying brain-melters and forgotten pop gems to take revelers through the night.
