A new Foals album could be on the way in 2026. The Oxford math rock outfit took to social media on the first day of the year to tease new material, their first since 2022’s funk and disco-inspired Life Is Yours.
The band wrote on Instagram, “HNY! 2026 … The Year of the Fire Horse…” in a post that included a photo of a recording studio and a white board chart appearing to depict parts of new songs.
Frontman Yannis Philippakis had previously told Rolling Stone UK on the red carpet of their 2024 Awards that he was thinking about making new music with the group, following a successful period with his solo act Yannis & The Yaw. The solo project began in 2016 after Philippakis met the late Afrobeat legend Tony Allen in 2016. Original bassist Walter Gervers rejoined Foals in 2023 following a stint from 2008-2017, marking a return for the group as a quartet.
