Exclusive interviews with our guests, #1... Sick Elektrik!

Well then, the time is nearly upon us, and as things really start to take shape, we are all getting very excited for October 10th at the Attic. 

As we did last time, where we interviewed Lottie in the run up to the event, we decided to carry it on and interview our guests for this one, so... here is interview number 1... from local boys, Ministry of Sound residents, quite possibly one of the hottest up & co9ming acts on the British House scene today, and all round general top chaps... Sick Elektrik!!!

(SCM) First of all we?d like to say a quick thanks for coming to play for Su Casa Musica!

So you guys are from the East Lancs area, tell us a bit about where you come from musically and what we can expect from you on the night?

(SE) We are actually both born and raised in the mighty Accrington but now live in Whalley & Rawtenstall. Are studio is in Accrington though so quite looking forward to playing here, pretty much done gigs in all the surrounding areas but never played in Accy before. Musically we play House & Techno, and that is what you can expect on the night, solid grooves and heavy bass lines. 

(SCM) What do you think about the scene around here these days?

(SE) Without sounding old, it's not as good as it used to be, bars staying open later have affected the night club scene quite a bit and a lot of places have shut down, the clubs that are still around here are pretty cheesy really which doesn't fit us but there are occasionally some decent one off events put on, and also we have Beatherder festival over this way which is awesome, probably the best gig we've done this year. 

(SCM) It seems that you don?t get the chance to play round here that much, why do you think that is?

(SE) The underground house and techno scene isn't very big round here so there isn't really anywhere for us to play, only 'Classics' nights seem to do well. 

(SCM) You?ve had a big couple of months tell us all about what?s been happening?

(SE) We've signed a new EP to Underground Audio called That's Right which has been doing really well for us, had a few plays on Radio 1 from Annie Mac & Danny Howard also Steve Lawler, Amine Edge & Dance, Richie Ahmed and Reboot have been hammering it in Ibiza at Sankeys and DC 10 all summer. Plus we are pretty busy with our Ministry Of Sound Residency. 

(SCM) So, you guys are getting to be pretty hot property on both the producing & DJ?ing sides of the scene, what?s better, having your tracks played on Radio 1, or playing in front of massive crowds for Ministry of Sound, and why?

(SE) It's 50/50 on that really, the buzz of playing in front of a huge crowd is tremendous best feeling you can have, but then hearing one of the tracks you've spent hours/days/weeks even months working on getting recognition on Radio 1 is out of this world. 

(SCM) What has been your best experience so far?

(SE) Think its got to be Annie Mac playing our track on Radio 1 for the first time. 

(SCM) What are your aims in the music industry, where do you want to be in 5 years?

(SE) Would really love an Ibiza residency, to DJ out there week in week out for a summer would be awesome so that's what we are aiming for. 

(SCM) When you get there will you still come and play for Su Casa? 

(SE) Accy to Ibiza... Course we will ;)

What have you got lined up and where will be able to see you guys playing towards the end of the year?

(SE) Got a new EP ready to go, currently in discussions with a few different labels so hopefully that will be all sorted and out soon.  Also we've just finished a remix fir Love & Other, then for the next few months we will be touring for Ministry Of Sound. 

Well all sounds like it's going well, and about to get even better for these boys, absolutely no doubt that next year will be a bigger year for them, and it's very well deserved!!! 

We are looking forward to an even bigger and better night on this one, and to share it with these guys, who will no doubt absolutely rock the place... it's going to be awesome!!!
