We’re rightfully excited about the Freeze presents Luciano and Friends showcase set to take place in St Georges’ hall this weekend, but behind the stunning production, music and overall ambience of awesome is a very special cause. The event has been selected to raise much needed funds and profile for a charity that the people behind Freeze have a strong emotional connection towards, Claire House Children’s Hospice.

Bebington, the Wirral is home to a truly remarkable place. With its aim of creating a place filled with vibrancy and hope, Claire House has, since 1998, been a place that that brings comfort and positivity into the lives of babies, children, and young people suffering with life limiting conditions.

Great care has been taken in order to create a loving, home from home environment in which children and their families can relax and thoroughly enjoy their time together. Specialist care and dedicated staff are on hand to assist in any way they can, but most importantly to help the kids and families make the most of everyday, living their lives to the full.

Since its inception, Claire House has gone from strength to strength, and nowadays supports over 300 families from across the north west, from Merseyside to Cheshire, North Wales to West Lancashire, even as far as the Isle of Man, and is now rightly recognised as a center of excellence for specialist care in the north west. The ten-bedded hospice provides unparalleled end-of-life and bereavement care for children and young adults with complex medical needs.

Claire House since 2006 expanded to open an adolescent wing, providing a relaxed and ultimately happy environment for young people to enjoy. 2007 saw Claire House expand to launch a Hospice to Home service which meant that the expert care normally confined to the hospice could commence outreach work into the community, right into the family home where it is most needed.

Above all else, Claire House aims and succeeds at not being about sadness as one would expect, but bringing an opportunity to live, to be happy. It’s an opportunity to share concerns and worries with people who understand, in a genuinely caring environment. Their ideals can be put into three simple words: laughter, positivity, and care.

Freeze selected the charity due to their personal experience of the brilliant work they do, and are delighted to be able to help out in any way they can. It’s a satisfaction mirrored by the charity themselves, with their North Area Fundraising Manager, Helen Carlson, stating the following about Saturday’s event:

"Despite our name, Claire House Children's Hospice doesn't just care for children; our services extends to young adults up to the age of 23, so it's amazing that we can engage with new supporters of a similar age thanks to the Freeze event at St George's Hall.

It's such a cool event for us to be a part of and Claire House is going to be well represented at the event with some of our volunteers coming down to get involved. We'll see you there!"

Indeed we will! There’s still a few tickets left for one of the biggest events to hit Liverpool in a long time, so if you fancy raving with your conscience firmly in tact this weekend then there’s few options which stack up as well.
