The big man Carl Cox makes his return to Sankeys on Friday 4th May, kicking off an exceptional weekend at the club. There are few DJs who can lay a stake to the throne of leading light in club land, but Carl can grab it wholeheartedly with two hands. Since the acid house explosion in the late eighties he has been at the forefront of everything that is iconic in the world of dance; selling out early raves off the strength of his name, running a hugely influential record label in Intec, being the first to really mix across three decks and the only DJ who can pack out the world’s number one club Space with his own promotion. A true legend; he is still the watermark of success and talent within this game.

Joining him will be the definitive voice in British reggae and dub culture, Rodigan. Fellow dub fanatic Toddla T and bass music sensation Breakage round off the bill.

One night later, and two duos take Saturday’s mantle. Three years ago Sankeys were the first club in this country to really invest time in some young house music DJs from New York City, the Martinez Brothers. Fast forward to 2012 and their impact upon the UK scene has improved tenfold, rising out from the peerage of Dennis Ferrer to become one of the most revered partnerships on the planet.

Hot Creations stalwart Lee Foss also stars, along with Outcross Records founder Miguel Campbell. Sleazy and secretive disco edits lynchpins Tiger & Woods also star, bringing their sassy grooves and sex focused beats to the fore for another superlative set.

The final party of the weekend sees a turn from Magda. Fully independent from mentor Ritchie Hawtin and his Minus Stable, Magda has started 2012 with a bang with the rejuvenation of her Items & Things label, with fellow Minus ex-pats Marc Houle and Troy Pierce. Support comes in the shape of Mike Servito, the NYC resident with the Detroit focused output whose lashing of machine funk have seen an output on Matthew Dear’s Ghostly International. Continue rocks Spektrum with its next instalment, bringing their own bastion of the US sound in Chi Town fanatic Scouser John Heckle. Rising bass music star Kashii headliners Continue, who has been getting props from people including Annie Mac, and Sankeys’ own star Jozef K bring the bill to a finish.
