Carlisle Live is back and this year is set to be one of the biggest and best events yet in the north of the United Kingdom. For the first time this outdoor pop spectacular will take place over the bank holiday weekend of Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th August with Boyzone headlining Saturday and McFly Sunday, plus support from lots of great musical talent. Bitts Park will provide the perfect venue for the event being right in the heart of the historic, border city of Carlisle, which is easily reachable for many cities, towns and villages in Lancashire, Teesside, Tyneside and across the border in Scotland. Tickets for this huge two-day event in the heart of beautiful Cumbria are on sale now through the website holding page www.carlislelive.co.uk or by calling the Box Office on 0871 424 4444.

Carlisle Live’s Saturday headliners Boyzone debuted in 1993 and have since achieved, amongst countless other accolades and awards, 15 million album sales, several sell out world tours and six UK Number Ones with hits such as “No Matter What” and “Back Again.” Late last year they announced a UK comeback tour, their first for eight years, and such is the excitement that the entire tour has now virtually sold out. Their first new single for eight years is also rumoured to be due for radio release in August. The new live show is being tipped as their best yet, plus the guys have put in months of training and are fitter than ever, ready to wow their army of fans.  This is the only chance to see Boyzone’s electrifying outdoor performance in our region.
Speaking ahead of the event, Ronan Keating said, “I can’t wait to be back on the road and all the guys feel the same. Our live shows were always great fun but this time it will definitely be the best day out ever!”

Sunday’s headliners are the fantastic McFly, purveyors of some of the catchiest anthems of all time. In the three and a half years since they released their debut single, “Five Colours In Her Hair”, the band have enjoyed a soar-away success, achieving seven Number 1 singles and two Number 1 albums. In their short time together McFly’s achievements have been phenomenal, including an award from the Guinness Book of Records for being the youngest band ever to chart at Number 1 with their debut album (an award previously held by The Beatles), a Brit Award for Best Pop Act and the guys also travelled to Uganda as ambassadors for Comic Relief.

Tom Fletcher, McFly's frontman, said, "We are really excited to be headlining this year’s Carlisle Live and some summer time festival action. We love performing live best of all and can’t wait to give all our fans a top show!"

Along with the ever popular final of The Stobart Factor and a spectacular fireworks display, Carlisle Live 2008 is set to be a world class weekend party to be enjoyed by everyone from across the north of the UK.

“It is my aim to create a uniquely special family event offering top class music and entertainment for the people of Cumbria and the surrounding regions in the north of the United Kingdom. For 2008 we have raised the bar even further, bringing to Carlisle some of the best pop music acts the world has to offer and this year we are hosting it over two days so it will be an action packed weekend of fun and entertainment with something for everyone,” commented Andrew Tinkler, Chief Executive Office of Stobart Group.

The two day outdoor event will have something for everyone including kids’ entertainment and activities, VIP hospitality, a fairground and lots of delicious food and drink served around Bitts Park. The Carlisle Live website – www.carlislelive.co.uk is launching fully on Tuesday 3rd June, so keep checking that for the latest information during the run up to the event.
