The minds behind the forward thinking dance music weekender have today revealed that this year's Bloc Weekender, held at Butlin's in Minehead this weekend will be its last ever edition.

Likening the experience of running a festival to a roller-coaster, co-founder Alex Benson told Resident Advisor - "they're quite a trip, and leave you euphoric, shaken and with a new-found zest for life. Eventually, you get off having had a thoroughly great time. And that's where we are." He later added "we think we have given everything we can and would like to make space for the next generation."

Bloc has enjoyed ten momentous years, with its techno and experimental line ups amongst the finest the UK has had to offer - the exit of Bloc will certainly leave a big gap in the UK's festival scene. Watch Clouds DJ set at last year's festival below.

Fans don't need to be too downhearted though, the Bloc team have their minds set on creating a super club, surrounded by music studios and workspaces, and continuing to release music on their eponymous label, with JoeFarr due to release his debut album any day now.

Elsewhere the brand will be celebrating its 10th year with special parties in Montreal, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Paris, Dublin and more, with a full scale music conference slated for London next summer.
