Madis Sillamo, the man behind Beat Service, has catapulted himself into the Trance limelight over the past couple of years after a number of highly successful tracks. The likes of "Not This Time", "Fortuna" and "Outsider" have all made it inside the Beatport top ten Trance charts and Madis has gone on to remix for the high calibre artists Armin Van Buuren, Markus Schulz and Lange.

The Estonian has also forged an impressive DJ career playing all over the world and on Saturday 18th May, he will make his London debut at Trance Sanctuary at Egg in London. Malu Salvagno decided to find out a bit more about the man himself.

Hi Madis, first of all how are you and how has 2013 been treating you so far?

I’m doing well, thanks! 2013 has been amazing so far, I've met a lot of fans while touring across the world and my productions are doing well.

When did you first ever started Djing and how did you grow up your love for trance music?

I started Djing back in the early 2000's, productions came in later around 2005.  I have always loved the melodic vibes of Trance music, so by the time I started I was already "infected" with the Trance disease. I was probably most influenced by 90s German Trance and later on by the Dutch sound.

Were you much of a clubber and do you have a favourite Trance song of all time?

I was actually! I went to a lot of festivals here in Estonia and even went to Trance Energy in Holland couple of times. My all-time favourite song is Gouryella - Gouryella! (I might play it out at the Trance Sanctuary...)

When, where and what was your memories of your first ever gig? Were you nervous?

I don't really remember my first ever gig, because it's been over 12 years... But yes, I can tell you I was definitely nervous. I didn't have the chance to practice at home, so I pretty much discovered how to do it on stage. Each gig I got closer to the perfect technique.

Since then what have been your favourite gigs?

Favourite gigs so far, oh man there are so many of them! Bal En Blanc in Canada for twenty thousand people, Avalon in Singapore - nightclub on the water with amazing people, Sydney Australia, ASOT 600 in Den Bosch and one of the most recent gigs in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Such an amazing crowd!

With your very busy schedule, how do you find time to prepare to your sets and to produce/remix?

Well, I prepare my sets on the road, which is quite normal I guess. Gigs does take a lot of time from precious studio sessions, but then again I collect so much inspiration on the road, that coming back in to the studio for a few days is always a bless and while there, you forget the world and just focus on producing.

With the majority of your gigs away from your homeland of Estonia, what is your essential travel item that you can't go without?

My Ultrabook! Haha, can't really live without it... All my music is there, I use it to write down my production ideas.

What is the best piece of advice you've ever had in regards of music industry?

Do what you love and that will get you exactly where you want to be!

What advice can you give to other up and coming DJ/Producers?

Pretty much the same answer! Do your own thing, try to be different, and try to be you.

What are the plans for your near and long road future?

I’m currently working on my debut artist album, which takes up the majority of my time. The album should be done by the end of this year and I want it to be perfect! I'm also doing a lot of gigs and later this year I have some exciting news regarding US touring as well.

This Saturday you will make your London debut at Trance Sanctuary, what do you already know about the party?

I know there are some serious Trance fans out there and I've seen some footage of the previous events. Really looking forward to this one!

What can we expect from your set?

I will play a lot of my own productions and I will definitely throw in some new exclusives and even some classic stuff!

Finally would you like to leave a message to all your fans around the globe?

Thanks guys for all the love and support for my music! I've been doing this for a while now and I would never be here without you! Fans are everything to me. Let the beats continue!
