Each month on Skiddle, we reflect and decide who has had one to remember. Think of an artist who has done something that people will remember for some time to come and has moved forwards in a new direction. This month, we've gone with Sparks who just seem to be getting better and better with time.

If you don't know much about who Sparks are, they are a sibling duo who have been making music together since as early as the 70s. If you want a lot more background information then we highly recommend that you check out Edgar Wright's 2021 film The Sparks Brothers.

It covers all five decades that the duo have been active in. Earlier this month they released their 26th album 'The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte', another chapter in what is an absolutely monumental discography. The title track is one of the highlights of the album and features Cate Blanchett dancing along in the music video.

What their new album shows is that they are still capable of creating a record that features arty bangers throughout. There's an argument to be made that perhaps Sparks are underrated and that might be true, but the general consensus to this album is that it is one of their best to date.

They craft pop songs that will stay in your head for an eternity and maybe they're finally getting the plaudits that they deserve. At the end of May, they went out on tour in the UK, playing dates in cities such as Manchester, Liverpool and London, with two nights at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall.

In early June they also appeared at Primavera Sound as they are now primed to tour across the world and will be playing at other festivals such as Glastonbury. They're primed to have an amazing summer this year as 2023 sees them get more of the respect they thoroughly deserve.
