If you were clubbing in Britain during the late 80s and 90s, you may remember that the long-lost membership card was everything.
Long before digital guestlists, QR codes and ticket apps, these little bits of laminated plastic and card were your passport into some of the country's most legendary nights. After spending more than 30 years tracking them down, rave historian and archivist Rob Ford is now putting one of the largest collections ever assembled up for auction.
Known as The Members Only Archive, the collection contains around 1,700 items charting the rise of acid house, rave and club culture, with membership cards, VIP passes, invitations and badges from institutions including Shoom, The Haçienda, Ministry of Sound, Fantazia, Raindance, Labrynth, Amnesia House, Helter Skelter and countless more.
Preview or (if you've got bank) bid on the Members Only Archive by visiting the auction on Bonhams - HERE

Collected by Ford over more than three decades, the archive offers a fascinating snapshot of a scene that helped reshape British music and nightlife. Many of the cards were never designed to survive beyond a single event or season, making them some of the rarest pieces of rave memorabilia still in existence today.
Among the highlights are early Shoom cards and badges, Haçienda membership passes, a Ministry of Sound VIP card issued to Balearic pioneer Trevor Fung, and even the first known business card for The Prodigy, listing the group's original line-up
The archive is expected to fetch between £60,000 and £80,000 when it goes under the hammer as part of Bonhams' Sound & Cinema sale, which runs online from 15th – 25th June. For anyone interested in the history of British club culture, it's less a collection of memorabilia and more a time capsule from one of dance music's most influential eras.
