- Wednesday 19th May
- New Zealand musician, Jonathan Bree, comes to YES (The Pink Room) on 19th May 2021 with his melodic compositions.
In a brief two year period, Now Wave have established themselves as one of the most important independent live music and club promoters in Manchester, if not the entire country. As their name suggests, their ethos has always been to provide a platform for the newest, most innovative and engaging new acts from across the musical spectrum, as well as putting on shows by hugely established artists famed for breaking the mould with cutting edge and groundbreaking bodies of work, such as Chris Cunningham, Philip Glass, the Wu Tang Clan and Gil Scot Heron.
Created in September 2008 by Wesley Killerbee and Jon Wickstead, the night began as a series of weekly gigs showcasing the best new bands in the UK followed by a club night that promised to Give The Past A Slip, playing only the best new music from the past two years. The Deaf Institute proved to be a perfect location, being both one of the best small live venues in Manchester as well as one of the most respected clubs. The night quickly garnered an untouchable reputation for the sheer quality and variety of live bookings as well as the DJs impeccable music policy, becoming one of the most popular midweek nights in the city. In a city full of generic clubs, Now Wave is unique as the only weekly night for people passionate about new music, whether it be Animal Collective, Wild Beasts, Fever Ray, Hot Chip, Toro Y Moi or MIA.
