Review of Rum & Reggae Fest | Central Park Brighton Seafront

Only one gripe is that there was a distinct smell of w**d around the event which wasn't nice but it wouldn't stop me from booking again in the future.

Review of Rum & Reggae 2026 | SteelYard, Sheffield

The music wasn't reggae it was more like drum and base so too hectic for us. There weren't any other performers as advertised. The food was overpriced and poor quality. Didn't see any rum.

This was NOT a Reggai event.
I have attended many Reggai events in London. 
This was Garage and Rapping with the odd Reggai song slipped in. 
I would like a refund, thats how bad it was.

Janet Kay General Levey and the UB40 tribute that was on were all amazing ...i'm 64 ... danced my heart out and would definately go again .. got some awesome videos 😊

This particular event (Brighton) didn't have a great line up to begin with and it looks like the acts you would have expected to headline came on early in The day so I missed them. Comminutions were bad, the FAQ's had not info on prohibited items so drinks and food were confiscated, I didn't bring my camping chairs just in case, but it looked like they were permitted as people had them.
There were no timing details released on acts coming on stage so it was difficult to plan your day.  Hence why I missed the main acts.
There was NO rum punch, which should be standard for a reggae fest.
And on the matter of reggae they barely had any true reggae acts, I heard a lot of D&B and ska to be honest, the DJ did boat some dancehall while I was there, I didn't arrive at 16:30 so may have missed a lot!
The venue is not great at all, dusty stoney grounds and seating was all clumped together.

People and staff were great though and we had a little dance, but definitely not worth £33 entrance fee!

Mixed feelings about this event, the line up was incredible and the sound system was pretty decent (except the vocals needed to be a lot louder than the bass which everyone kept telling the artists mid performance). They had basically 0 vendors... 3 places to eat yet loads of seating (which I did eat at and was lovely food!), the bar had minimal options (especially non alcoholic options). There was 1 merch stand which was a single trestle table with hardly anything on it, just sadly I think all the money went to having a good line up... I actually loved it being so close to the Marina (great for parking) but it was just very underwhelming and I expect for a Rum & Reggae event to have vendors, people selling fun things, much more variety of things to do/entertainment... I would attend again if they upped their game, also it was stated in lots of ads to be family friendly but had nothing there to support this except children were allowed in.

The address of the event was incorrect . Took over 1hr to find, without directions, or phone of contact it was very dificult to find
The audio was terrible too, the music was not balanced, the audio staff really liked bass because no ither thing could have been listened to. Eva lazarus bought it up and they fix it for her act, the other acts were terrible. None of the audio staff were with the crowd checking, so we all felt left out completely

This is the worst festival venue - ever!
It is just a car park with uneven concrete. The sound system and mic was awful. Only two food stalls which over charged- to be expected these days but it was the bar that was even worse.
They charged £2 for a plastic cup which you did not get refund if you took it back. Extortionate price for drinks and when you asked for tap water you were given a tiny paper cup which was not enough.
Central Park! It is at least a 30 min walk from central Brighton

Beautiful could do better with food some was of poor quality otherwise great toilets need to have water to flush

It was a great day although I expected relaxing reggae rather than jungle music.I managed to keep up the pace though.
