Review of Hawkwind: Friends and Relations

Great event. Usual very friendly fellow fans, fantastic venue with excellent helpful and friendly staff (not to forget the awesome volunteers). Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Suicide prevention and jokes? A combination which on paper shouldn't work, but one which Tommy North embraces to give the audience plenty of laughs alongside a serious message. And that's the point. By skilfully intertwining genuinely funny gags about his own experiences of family life with his knowledge of suicide prevention from his day job, Tommy gets his message across. His confident delivery of well written material,  likeable personality and relatable story telling both inform and entertain. A winning combination and highly recommended.

Must have been good coz my mate said I was dancing

As normal this was Hawkwind at their best, a great setlist, good visuals and fantastic sound system. The venue, an old Music Hall which has seen Stars including Laurel and Hardy, The Beatles ,Stones and Who is currently being fully restored and you could tell what a beautiful venue it must of been, and soon will be again.

Never been to a two day event before and was well worth it. The band and their support acts were great and some unusual and interesting acts, too. Hawkwind and their people were flawless.

Let down by poor communication from organiser. No mention of wristbands  (which you need for other venue) until you turn up at main venue for concert expecting to get in with tick*t; no mention of additional activities except in programme, which you get when turning up for concert, by which time these had already happened. I wasn't the only person caught out like this.

Presumably,  experienced festival goers would know this stuff, but this was my first, so I didn't. Each performer should have been asked to notify their followers (on all their channels) that there is an organisers page or website that you MUST read for essential information; if I'd know about it, I'd have picked up wristband midday and would have found out about the Hawkwind memorabilia exhibitions in time to go see them.

Overall a good weekend, but please don't assume everyone knows all the ins and outs.

A smash up of poetry, comedy, theatre previewing shows as they head up to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival and added into the mix local shows showing local talent with a new added TV &amp; Film Strand incorporating the Morecambe Film &amp; TV Festival.
How to Fringe:
1/ Buy a &#163;5 Fringe badge from the Playhouse - this helps support the Fringe!
2/ if you want to see a show, buy a ticket! This is the only way to guarantee a seat!
3/ If you want to take a chance, turn up and donate directly to the act at the end!
