About

A cornerstone of Birmingham’s music scene since 2000, Leftfoot has built a reputation for championing forward-thinking, genre-defying sounds across the Midlands and beyond. Founded by Adam Regan and Matthew Beck – the duo also responsible for the legendary programming at the Hare & Hounds in King’s Heath, Leftfoot has grown from a local club night into one of the UK’s most respected musical institutions.

Fuelled by a deep love for the eclectic and the soulful, Leftfoot’s roots are inspired by the likes of Plastic People, Electric Chair, Gilles Peterson and Andrew Weatherall. Their musical output reflects this rich lineage, both as promoters and DJs, covering everything from jazz, funk and soul to disco, dub, house, techno and everything in between. Their events have welcomed a who's who of groundbreaking artists, including Bonobo, Floating Points, Bicep, Ezra Collective, Roy Ayers, Nubya Garcia, and Nils Frahm.

As DJs, Leftfoot bring that same crate-digging spirit to the dancefloor, blending balearic gems with deep grooves, rare edits and dancefloor curveballs. Their open-minded selections have seen them share the decks with legends like Carl Craig, Theo Parrish, Jamie xx, Shanti Celeste, Blessed Madonna and Gerd Janson, always with an ear to the unexpected and a finger on the pulse.

Away from the club, they’ve made their mark on the festival circuit too – hosting stages and playing across the likes of We Out Here, Dimensions, Love International and Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul Festival – and in 2019 launched their own boutique event, ‘Between The Lines’, a two-day celebration of genre-crossing talent.

In the words of their longtime friend and champion Gilles Peterson: “Leftfoot are the perfect example of what makes a scene thrive – they’re to be cherished, loved and appreciated.”
