The road to the best day of your year starts here. Bank Holiday Sunday May 6th……

We are able to reveal the first raft of promoters who will be bringing the Sounds to the Other City in 2018. Marking the 14th annual celebration of new music and performance on Chapel Street, this year’s line-up of selectors includes old favourites, cult classics, and some new blood – all in keeping with the usual otherworldly feeling that makes the early May bank holiday in Salford so special.

From those firm favourites, you can be excited to see Now Wave, Hey! Manchester, Grey Lantern, Comfortable on a Tightrope, Fat Out & friends, and Bad Uncle all involved once again – each has played an enormous role in shaping SFTOC into what it is today. Heavenly Recordings, Good Afternoon, BBC Philharmonic, IMPA TV, The Beauty Witch, and Market (formerly T’OPP Collective) are back aboard too, with each having made a huge impact on the festival in recent years, alongside fellow Other City heroes Tru Luv, Young Identity, OneFiveEight, Reform Radio, Eastern Bloc and the School of Electronic Music (formerly MIDI School).

For new faces, there’s a smorgasbord of different selectors making their Chapel Street debuts, with local tastemakers in the shape of Strange Days, legendary Manchester venue Band on the Wall, tropical specialists Regal Disco, the region’s best new party-bringers Thirsty Girls Collective, a music and artist books remix via Bound Art Book Fair, and all the way from Liverpool we’re delighted to finally have The Invisible Wind Factory on board too. Each will be bringing their own unique flavour, making it the most expansive Sounds yet.

And there will be plenty more joining the party too, including rumblings of a Salford Tory Party Conference and much more news on brand new local development SOUNDSTOWN.
