Sounds From The Other City

Sounds From The Other City will take place on Sunday 2 May.

Sounds From The Other City is located at Salford's historic Chapel Street.

Anyone attending Sounds From The Other City who is under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (25 or over). Please note some of the venues are licensed premises with individual rules that prohibit people under the age of 18 after certain hours so access may be restricted. If there are specific acts or parts of the programme you wish to see please email info@soundsfromtheothercity.com who will deal with your query specifically. 

Sounds From The Other City aren’t able to provide welfare provisions for animals (water bowls, poop bins etc) so we don’t encourage people to bring dogs, however there are open air areas of the site that are open to any four legged friends under the supervision and care of ticket holders. The event organisers expect the same level of behaviour as they would from their human guests though so any fighting, biting or pooping will result in you being asked to leave.

Unfortunately a refund cannot be issued if you can’t make the event due to work commitments or your mates have dropped out. In these circumstances, it is advised passing on your tickets privately to avoid losing out on the money spent. Refunds can only be offered if the event is cancelled or postponed, as agreed upon purchase.

Children aged 13 and under are admitted free to Sounds From The Other City when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. It’s worth bringing some ID if they look older than 13.

Everyone aged 14 or over on Sunday April 30th 2023 (the day of the event ), must have bought a full ticket.

Anyone under the age of 18 wishing to attend the festival MUST be accompanied by a parent/guardian over the age of 25.

Please note that a lot of the venues at SFTOC are temporary or non-standard venue spaces and do not have baby changing facilities. We advise that all children wear ear defenders when inside venues with live music and djs.

No, there is only one ticket to Sounds From The Other City. The festival firmly believe in championing new artists and ideas and want everyone to step into their melting pot of discovery as equals. Your wristband will grant entry to all daytime and afterparty venues, subject to capacity

You can get to Chapel Street by:

Train: Arrive at Salford Central (11 minutes to wristband exchange) or Salford Crescent (15 minutes) stations. 

Foot: Chapel Street is a 10 min walk from Central Manchester via Bridge Steet, Quay Street or Chapel Street.

Cycle: Transport for Greater Manchester, has launched Greater Manchester’s first publicly operated, self-service, 24/7 cycle hire scheme. There are bike hubs located right in the heart of the festival, at the Ainscow Hotel, Islington Way Oldfield Road/Barrow St, The Old Pint PotBike. Pick up hubs  are located across Manchester City Centre, Salford Quays and Salford Crescent. You can can see a map of the full network here. Festival organisers use these bikes all the time and highly recommend  them as the premium way of getting right to the heart of the action, quickly and cheaply.

Bus: From Manchester City Centre: You can get a number of buses from Piccadilly Gardens and Shudehill interchange. These buses run frequently even on Bank Holiday Sundays. You will need to ask for a ticket for Chapel St, near Salford Cathedral. Journey should take no more than 10 minutes.

It is strongly encouraged that you arrive by cycle or public transport and make the remaining way by foot. Sounds From the Other City is very close to major transport hubs and these really are the quickest and most efficient ways to get around. If you have no other option…

Car: Oldfield Road is just off the A6 Chapel Street and is accessible via the A56 and A57 and Mancunian Way. Parking is extremely limited around the area. The nearest car parks to Chapel Street are on Adelphi St (M5 4JN) and Farmer Norton (Peru St, M3 6FS). They are uncovered pay and display car parks.
