A former jazz dancer with gusto and innate bubbly persona are just some of ways to describe the very affable and feisty London gal, known as Marcia Carr - a woman of many talents. She's A deejay of long stature and also a member of the Ladybugz collective with many a string to her bow.
She has graced the decks at many events and social soiress over the years to recent haunts like Is It LIVE, Mind Fluid, Whistle Bump, Southport Weekender, Right Area, Shelter, Back II Basics, Southport Sessions, House Huntin, Weekending as well as festivals too. Playing regularly on the international circuit too Marcia's a well renonwned figure within the realms of real house music, but she's known also for rocking parties with her eclectic sets in equal measure. Having spun with some honorary names over the years that include Kerri Chandler, Phil Asher, Paul 'Anderson, Frankie Valentine, Norman Jay MBE, Larry Heard, Jeremy Newall, Seamus Haji, Teddy Douglas (The Basement Boys), Marc Mac, Ricky Morrison, Bert Bevans, DJ Paulette, Kevin Beadle, Johnny Reckless, Jazzie B, Cosmo, Rachel Aubern and many others. When she does have a night off you'll often find Marcia still has a yearning to take to the dance floor.
Her deeper, inspirational, soulful, jazzy style encompassing tech house and broken beat have graced the airwaves of a variety clubs internationally and radio stations as far flung as Sri Lanka, Singapore and Australia to our European neighbours - Estonia, Finland, Norway, Greece, Ireland, Switzerland and in the UK recently, at venues like the Ministry Of Sound on-line alongside the likes of Bob Sinclair, David Morales and Masters At Work.
As a residual member of female DJ crew LadyBugz, she co-hosts their radio show on MOS radio which grows from strength to strength, and she every month doubles up with prime time house DJ producer Sy Sez on his Colourful radio show in London.
Keeping her hands full the first lady of Underground Dance finds time to fit in freelance contributions to I-DJ magazine, http://basic-soul.com/ and Soul Survivors too, aside from running her own promotional PR company - a dedicated trooper to the sounds of the Underground, Marcia is a force to be reckoned with. And not being shy of new ventures, Marcia has been been inside the studio turning her hand at producing and remix work, and is an acting music consultant on for many independent labels and new talent. It's no wonder then that her diversity and knowledge perfectly illustrates exactly why she a lady who is very much in demand.
