Edele, born in London to a Filipino father and Celtic mother, unearthed the origins of her musical passion deeply embedded in her upbringing. The diverse musical preferences of her parents significantly contributed to the broad spectrum of musical tastes.
She often spent a significant amount of time at her grandmother's house, which boasted an extensive record collection. I would lose myself for hours listening to music, and I distinctly recall doing so as early as the age of five years old. With a grandfather who was a pianist, frequently gracing the stage at the renowned Ronny Scotts in Soho, the intrinsic connection to music has been a part of her essence. The pivotal moment in her musical journey unfolded in 1999, sparked by the inspiration of her late friend Stuart, whose enduring influence remains a significant and cherished element of her odyssey. Edele acknowledges that without him, she wouldn't be where she is today.
For her seventeenth birthday, she used all her savings and bought her very first set of belt drive decks, committing herself to refining her skills. She devoted hours to practice and spent all her earnings on the newest releases from record shops, with Kinetic Records being her favourite haunt. Although Edele had been playing at underground parties for years, her career reached a turning point in 2009 when she captured the spotlight at a night called Lifted. This marked a significant breakthrough in her career.
