Crystal Clear is the drum & bass alias of Andy Haeffele.
Rising to prominence as part of DJ Hype's Playaz camp in the early noughties, Andy released a series of dance floor bangers and toured the globe DJing.
After his track 'Itzalot' feat. Stapleton gained mainstream success via Annie Mac on BBC Radio1, Andy spotted an opportunity for a rap vocal led dnb project. He followed this up with 'Levels' which soon became Mistajam's Jam Hot Record and spurned the Universal-signed pop/dnb project Major Look.
That project eventually ran its course and Andy felt the need to stretch his legs musically making cross-genre dance music, most recently producing cutting-edge techno for many of that scene's prominent labels under the Melody's Enemy moniker.
2022 saw Crystal Clear return to the dark side, with his first dnb release in a decade 'Divide & Conquer', released on the highly respected Sofa Sound Bristol.
This was followed up with the four track 'Full Circle EP'. The EP features the track 'Puppet Man' alongside long-time friend and collaborator Codebreaker, a track instantly selected by Mary Anne Hobbs as her "Near Future" track on BBC 6Music.
The pair also crafted their “Sofa Sound Mixing Bowl” mix to accompany the EP, receiving critical acclaim from across the drum and bass scene.
Some said that 2024 was Crystal Clear’s year. He continued to reestablish himself within drum & bass with EP’s on Sauce Recordings, Love For Low Frequencies and Thirty One Recordings, all of which were hammered by the great and the good, with his Madhouse EP topping the d&b releases chart.
There’s no sign of him slowing down in 2025 either with his Selector EP on V Recordings going straight in at no.1 on the Beatport releases chart. Earthquake from the same EP also topped the dnb singles chart for a whole month!
Couple that with further releases scheduled for V Recordings, RUN and Playaz, as well as DJ sets for the likes of Hospitality, Run All Day and Breakin Science, and it's set to be another big year.
