About

We are absolutely buzzing to be bringing a man who we have all been great admirers of for many, many years and one whose impact and influence on the UK music scene and culture in general cannot be underestimated...the legendary Eddie Piller. 🫡
After dropping into McChuills after a sold-out West End Soul in the City, Eddie told us he had to come back and do a gig here in "the coolest pub in Glasgow", so who were we to argue? 😍
First making an impact after recording the young James Taylor Quartet as they became the main draw in the burgeoning London jazz scene, Piller teamed up with DJ Gilles Peterson to establish the Acid Jazz Records label to push the scene into a fresh direction to become one of the most influential youth movements of the 90s.
Success was immediate but Peterson left in 1989 to establish Talking Loud and Eddie Piller concentrated on a new generation of signings like Jamiroquai, The Brand New Heavies, Corduroy, Mother Earth, A Man Called Adam, Terry Callier and Gregory Isaacs.
In 1993 Piller opened the ground-breaking nightclub, The Blue Note in London's extremely unfashionable Hoxton, which became a major success whilst changing the face of east London's Shoreditch/Hoxton triangle into the art and culture centre it is today.
By the late '90s Piller had moved into broadcasting, hosting shows for Jazz FM, BBC Radio London, BBC Radio 6 Music, Soho Radio and Q Radio, where he won a British Radio Award. In 2019 in conjunction with Fred Perry he opened internet station Totally Wired Radio (TWR) which is listened to in 95% of countries in the world.
As of 2026, Piller has compiled more than 100 LP's including the chart-topping On The Corner series with Martin Freeman, as well as the Totally Wired collections, which have sold over a million copies.
Support on the night comes from our own Baz Foster (Spinning Out) and Stevie Watt & Paul Molloy (High Street Funk & Soul) so you'll want to get down early for this one. And get yr tickets asap 'cos this one is a guaranteed sell-out, eh?
