Modern Soul Vinyl Sheffield All-Dayer at Sandman Signature Hotel

Modern Soul Vinyl is a progressive collective dedicated to Soul music in all its forms.  

Our group has been running for nearly 10 years, now boasting a global membership of over 10,000. It truly came into its own during lockdown, connecting the soul world through live performances and music sharing from some of the best DJs, collectors, and dancers across the globe. We came together as one with virtual all-dayers every two weeks, showcasing both the unknown and the new, keeping everyone inspired with the very best sounds and tastes within the genre.  

This tradition still continues fortnightly on Mixcloud Live, featuring select DJs each week. Our Modern Soul Vinyl Facebook group interacts daily with over 5,000 contributors, running monthly themes that inspire members to dig deeper into their collections and share knowledge, discoveries, and passion as a community.  

The Modern Soul music we love is a progressive genre rooted in the Rare Soul and Northern Soul scenes, built on an uplifting dance ethos. The taste is ever-evolving as new modern dance music is created, but it largely focuses on the 1970s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, and beyond. Members appreciate Modern Soul, Soulful House, Disco, Jazz-Funk, Northern Soul, Boogie, Funk, Rare Groove, Garage Funk, Gospel, and more — too many styles to list, yet all connected by the same soulful thread.  

“Just good SOUL with oneness” sums it up best. Our aim is to share the new, keep things fresh, and move forward together.  

Following the success of our annual M-S-V All-Nighters — filling dance floors from 9pm to 5am at The Rugby Freestyle Room — and our Mixcloud Live sessions, we’re excited to announce our first All-Dayer. Thanks to Andy Burns (Notts), Tony Bruce (Aberdeen) and Mark Jones (Sussex), we’ll be bringing everyone together again from across the UK and Europe in luxury hotel surroundings… with one goal: to dance.
