Biography

Veí is the alias of multi-instrumentalist, producer and current 'Kin' keyboardist Jonn Dean.

Having made computer-based music for over a decade, this latest solo project is a complete departure from typically modern techniques and sees Dean returning to a hardware-only setup.

Using live loopers, samplers and drum machines with a plethora of circuit-bent and glitchy fx - Veí's sound is awash with samples of orchestral and world instruments mixed with complex percussion and lo-fi beats.

Due to the nature of this set-up, all Veí recordings are currently live, one-take and often improvised, giving warmth to the tracks and a less clinical or programmed feel. This is a method that Dean hopes to both develop in the studio and bring to the live stage in 2010.
