Formed by Joe and Matt, The Late Pretenders started releasing demos in the summer of lockdown 2020. Taking inspiration from artists such as The Growlers, Alexandra Savior and The Black Keys, their sound lies within the stylings of indie rock, garage and psych pop.

As restrictions eased, the duo recruited school friends Jonny and George to help realise their songs live. They made their live debut performing a secret set at Outlaw Weekend 22 in September 2021.
