Although there were great artists around back then such as The Chants and Steve Aldo, it took until the early 1970’s and the arrival of the Real Thing for the city to make it’s mark on the history of soul music. Since then it’s been a bit of a hit and miss affair, with the biggest hit being The Christians, but things have been on the up for the last few years with more new artists on their way through. Rebecca Ferguson’s about to tour her fourth album across major venues and MicLowry are currently touring with Justin Bieber whilst my personal highlight of last weekend was seeing the serious new talent that is Tabitha Jade play Heebies in the afternoon. Never heard of her before though I’m sure we’ll all be hearing from her in the not too distant. Onwards and upwards.
