Signal Aurora are a 4-piece Indie/Rock band hailing from Garswood, a small village near Wigan.
Inspired by the likes of Feeder, Sigur Ros and Snowpatrol; childhood friends David Brown (songwriter, Vocals, Guitars) and Alan Roberts (Guitars, BVs) formed under the name Signal Aurora in 2009.
Throughout 2009 Dave and Al hit the recording studio to record the pick of their songs, shaping and developing their sound - Signal Aurora was born! Melancholic Anthemic Indie/Rock through and through!!! In 2010 Dave Fairhurst (Bass) joined the fold and the full band was complete.
2011 was spent perfecting the live performance with gigs around the North West including slots at both Haigh Fest and The Cavern Club. Their debut mini-album “A Flickering of Light” was released in July 2011 to coincide with their Haigh Fest performance while a follow-up EP "Clear" was release in 2012.
Signal Aurora reunited in late 2022 with new member Rick Gallagher on drums and a host of new material.
Press Clippings
"The anthemic sound of 'This Day' is something that immediately impressed me after hearing the track on the groups upcoming EP, 'A Flickering Of Light'. It's evident the Indie group are musicians that have spent time and effort crafting their sound. Their songs are well structured, well thought out pieces of music. The melancholic vibe the bands songs emit were perfect given the setting as the sun just began to dip beyond the rolling green hills behind the stage.."
Daniel Rydings - Mudkiss
"Hiding in the rafters is Signal Aurora. The four-piece who are regularly joined by a part-time pianist are just one of the exciting acts to make it onto the bill at Haigh Fest this year. The indie- rockers are currently lining up a festival set which won't make you forget them in a hurry. Influenced by the likes of Snow Patrol, Damien Rice and Sigur Ros, the lads ooze passion and warmth through their highly emotive songs."
Natalie Geraghty - Wigan Reporter
"Unknown to anyone on the panel, Signal Aurora were a dark horse when it came to selecting the line-up. A comparison to Snow Patrol was made, but they are better than that. Their beautiful melodies accompanied by a talented pianist who was a regular at The Lowry, Signal Aurora will make everyone stop in their tracks and listen."
