Saint Coltrane - based in Brighton, UK - are made up of members of a local collective that comprises bands, artists, labels, blogs and a football team. The band formed on 1st Jan 2011 and released debut single Iron Dracula (Enjoyment Records) in February 2012. Featuring members of critically-acclaimed Kentish instrumental act yndi halda and band-leader James Vella's A Lily, Saint Coltrane are named in honour of jazz man John Coltrane - named as a musical favourite and personal hero by Vella - and his gospel beatification by the African Orthodox Church in California.
