Biography

Phil Wiggins was born in Washington, D.C. in 1954. His parents had moved to DC in the 40s from Titusville, Alabama. Phil spent many of his childhood summers there and credits his time spent there and his close relationship with his Grandmother as reasons for his strong connection with traditional acoustic blues.Phil began his career as a blues musician performing at the Smithsonian Folklife Fest. with Flora Molton. At that festival, Phil met and joined with Wilber'' Big Chief '' Ellis ,John Cephas, and James Belamy forming , ''Big Chief Ellis and the Barrellhouse Rockers''. After Chief's passing about two years later Phil contenued on with John Cephas, forming the duo; Cephas and Wiggins.This duo took the

Piedmont Blues all over the US and to every contanent except Antarctica for over 30 years becoming

Americas premier acoustic blues duo.Since John's passing in March of 2009, Phil has been carrying on in several combinations as a singer , harmonica player, and song writer.For more info check out the
