As a songwriter he has clocked up covers with a wide range of stars from Elvis Presley to Waylon Jennings, from Cliff Richard to The Bay City Rollers

He created two of the most successful Eurovision Songs ever – Puppet on a String and Congratulations and his contribution to The Great Irish Songbook is unequalled – Scorn Not His Simplicity, Steal Away, Ireland’s Call and The Town I Loved So Well.

As a record producer his credits are formidable and include icons like and Sinead O’Connor, as well as classical greats like Sir James Galway, and ‘one of’s’ like Billy Connolly not to mention a veritable who’s who in Celtic music, from Planxty to The Dubliners, from Liam Clancy to The Fureys.

As a recording artiste his million selling instrumental albums have brought him international success, a Grammy nomination – and a busy touring schedule.

As a performer he has been honoured with several invitations to appear at the White House and has enjoyed sold-out dates across the U.S., including prestige venues like Carnegie Hall, New York, Boston’s Symphony Hall and the Irish Repertory Theatre, off Broadway.

In recent years he has been earning rave reviews for his one man show, an intimate and entertaining evening of music, songs and stories from his illustrious career. It’s an evening which one critic simple described as “Pure Gold”!
