Biography

Mr Jay started out his musical journey nicking his brothers streetsounds albums around 1984 and scratching on his parents console hi-fi system. Having always taken an interest in the DJ while clubbing in the early 90’s it was only a matter of time before he dived head first into the art of mixology. A brief excursion into house music at various venues was followed by a weekly residency on Sundays at Dry Bar with Pete Masters (burnt toast) & Woody (grand central/red laser records) playing everything from trip hop to disco. Peter then started DJ-ing for Fat City at their numerous residencies including Friends & Family at The Roadhouse, playing a melting pot of musical styles alongside guests such as Paul Nice, Qool DJ Marv & DJ Yoda. In 2005, Manchester’s legendary night, Electric Chair ceased to exist. Electriks, the founders of the chair, started a new venture called Nish Nash Nosh in the northern quarters Mint Lounge. A new residency began alongside El Diablo’s Social Club stalwarts, Dave Walker & Neil Scott. Having guests such as Norman Jay, Ashley Beedle & Groove Armada’s Tom Findlay, there was variety of different musical influences on the night. The most recent project is a collaboration with Martin Brew (j-walk).
