PERICO write and perform music that has people flummoxed as to how to describe them.....something like a collision between jerky alt-rock and woozy folk-inflected bar-room music, with an array of instrumentation to put most bands to shame. Live projected animation from the PAPER CINEMA adds a surreal and original visual dimension to every show.

Luckily the music is equally rich in colour. Several songs adopt the quiet-loud technique, but instead of a nut-crunching wall of guitars, Perico crescendo with fast-paced Latin-inflected rhythms and vivid flashes of cornet, circular refrains and a volley of handclaps and guttural shouting. As one listener recently remarked, "Tarantino would cream his pants over them". That might not be strictly necessary......
