Biography

Mickey Pearce is one of the most singular producers to emerge from the UK in

recent years. Always ahead of the curve, his tracks can be heard in the playlists of

tastemakers including Jackmaster, Ben UFO, Jamie XX, Benji B and Joy Orbison. His DJ sets pull together wide-ranging styles into a percussive and physical racket that has laid waste to dancefloors around the world and with recent releases on Ten Thousand Yen and Crème Organization’s Jericho One it’s easy to see why he’s always ahead of the curve.

Gaining notoriety with remixes of Wiley and JME, Mickey has always maintained a tradition of reworking and flipping other artists’ work. His take on Dat Oven’s Icy Lake was an underground hit in its own right, and his remix of Denzel Curry’s Threatz led him to work with Denzel on original material. His releases with Swamp 81 has defined a particular sound, with early releases Don’t Ask Don’t Get and his remix of Boddika’s Soul What paving the way for others to follow. Refusing to sit still, Mickey broke rank to release his Up West mixtape in 2014, followed soon after by the Instructions EP.

In 2015 Mickey led with the infectious Wam Barzz EP, featured on every specialist Dance music show on BBC Radio One and 1Xtra, alongside a collaboration with DVA for Hyperdub. Mickey’s LP, Michael which was released in the summer of 2016 saw him exploring new territory; crafting a strange and melancholic landscape of beatless textures and leftfield House & Techno.

Towards the start of the summer of 2017, Mickey Pearce launched his monthly specialist show ‘Box Of Toys’ on London’s leading online radio Radar Radio. With his forward thinking curation he’s managed to host the likes of Randomer to Machine Woman to Airhead to Meuko Meuko! to Code Walk in the short space of time. The show really plays off the eclecticism of Mickey Pearce and every month he manages to keep the listeners on their toes!
