Biography

What got you into Hip Hop?

Hard to say really, I’ve always been exposed to American hip-hop of sorts. As far as UK hip hop goes that was passed down with a long lasting graff interest from one of my mate’s older brothers (hold tight Onset!).

How would you describe yourself as an artist?

To be honest I haven’t really thought too much about my own style or anything like that… I’m just doing something I really enjoy and I’m happy to go where it takes me. I only started spitting about a year ago, give me another year then maybe I’ll be able to give you a better answer!

What led to your style of delivery and beat-selection?

Just trying to make music that I like myself and that I’ll listen to, then hoping at least a couple of other people do too… The same goes for beat selection, I’m just looking for beats that i’m feeling. Love that boombap forever but i’m down for new sounds too (producers hit me up – madlean@live.co.uk !!!!).

How do you think you differ from other artists?

I suppose I’m a bit all over the place, one moment I’ll be all serious and thinking too much about stuff and the next I’ll be stumbling round pulling weird faces + shouting. Both those states and all the others in between translate into my music. Everything’s always changing and that will inevitably show through in what I’m putting out. Personally I think that’s a good thing but I’m just as guilty as the next fan of wanting more of the same from an artist you’re into – but it’s really not about that in my eyes.

What ‘s the most important item in your music collection?

Some battered old compilation tape my dad made and used to bang in the car when I was about 7 or something. We’re talking Prince, TLC and that Biggie memorial tune. AWWHH
