Biography

Little Doses were formed in Edinburgh by Snow Patrol's Mark McClelland after leaving the band. They've been building a reputation for ferocious live shows around Scotland over the past few years and are proud to now release their debut album. Written by Ivor Novello recipient McClelland, and drawing heavily from the musical styles and influences of all members, it sounds very Little Doses. Self recorded, produced and now self released, this is music direct from artist to fan. Celebrating true independent ethos, there is no distortion of the music through industry calculation of what is trending, what the kids are buying and no need to pay heed to the lowest common denominator. This is the record Little Doses wanted to make and how they wanted to sound. The new album, “Rock Riot Soul” is to be released on 3 March 2012 on Black Ditto Recordings.

“Little Doses are a band of unassuming passion and large hearted melody. "Rock Riot Soul" is just that.... an utterly beguiling cocktail of varied styles and rich songs. As a calling card for any new band it would be impressive.. But for a self produced, self recorded, self funded effort it's a slow reminder that great things can be achieved if you have the the talent or the inclination. It is above all a very gentle album. Even the rockier moments are shot through with with a wilful nostalgia of summer's spent and love lost. Songs never out stay their welcome but they hang round long enough for you to want to hear them over again.“

Keiron Mellotte, Evol

Little Doses' sound is built from the ground up anchored by the pounding rhythm section of Mark McClelland on bass and drummer, Michael Branagh, formerly of Degrassi. A master in atmospherics and noise, Chris Alderson, previously with Edinburgh’s The Kays Lavelle, lays warmth and buzz, spills and heartache across the stage. Bringing the big licks is Mike Skinner, his versatile and inventive playing style punctuates the songs and features all across Little Doses’ recordings. The five piece are fronted by Kirsten Ross (described as Catwoman meets Cristina Martinez and an opinionated bundle of trouble), for influences they cite such diverse acts as Elbow, The Raconteurs, Sparklehorse and Fleetwood Mac.

Live highlights so far have been playing at The Wickerman festival, T in the Fringe, T In The

Park’s T-Break and support slots with The Buzzcocks and Union of Knives.
